PostSubject: Yesterday!   Wed May 03, 2017 1:07 am

This morning after Jill had gone to work, I wandered out to the mail box to see if the postie had been. A plaintiff cry from across the road from a little old lady who lives in a flat, asking me to please come. I scooted across the road to find her next door neighbour collapsed in his car. I quickly phoned for an ambulance and checked for a pulse in his neck and although I couldn't feel a pulse I started CPR on his chest. The 111 operator stayed with us as I had to pass the mobile phone to the little old lady told us to lay him flat on the ground, which we couldn't do as he was stuck in the drivers seat and was a big man. We tried to lay back the seat as far as we could while I pumped his chest. I didn't have much hope but kept at it until the ambulance arrived about 10 minutes later.
At that point we found his wife had been in the shower and didn't hear her neighbours calling, so she thought she was out. The man had been going to take their little foxy out for a run in the park just down the road. When the paramedics had taken over I went to look after the dog, who didn't want to get out of the car , which was starting to get a bit hot for him, so I managed to open the car windows and he was OK for now. Then his wife appeared. She had not realised what was going on until she heard the ambulance siren.
Sadly he was dead as I had suspected.

Oh no Cider, what an awful experience for you and the neighbours.

What a brave man you are attempting CPR.  Many would not. Well done.

So sorry for the loss of your neighbour and my heart goes out to his family.

I think you measured up well to the situation and did all that was possible. A sad outcome but well done you.

Thanks all for the nice compliments. It makes that course I went on about 20 years ago was worthwhile even if the results were not the hoped for outcome, at least I didn't have to stand there , waiting for the ambulance.

Attended the funeral yesterday and was touched by the thanks I received from the son , who had flown back from the UK , having only just arrived when he got the news from his mum.
