PostSubject: Suspicious activity...   Mon May 29, 2017 10:26 am

I am receiving a strange reaction when I try to log-in using my iPad.

In a 'box' headed Information, it states:
"We have detected suspicious activity related to your account.  To unblock it, please click here and complete the form".

If I touch the 'click here', it takes me to a webpage called onlineguardian.net, where it asks for me to enter 'User name' and to complete a 'verification Code' - i.e. copy the word(s) shown in reCAPTCHA format.

I don't have any software called onlineguardian.net .  Is it used by the Murgs forum by any chance?

I am trying to establish if it is a virus or some other intrusive program.

It's certainly nothing to do with Murgatroyd's Irene.
Unusual to get a virus on your iPad though.

Just tried Googling that and got a message saying this site cannot provide a secure certificate.
Found a bit about them, see link, sounds as though they are some sort of vigilante organisation.

Thanks for your help, Purwell.

The odd thing is that I appear to be ok on my desktop Windows 10 for access to Murgs and it is not occurring with any other regularly visited website.  scratch

I have cleared all history and website data in Safari.  I tried using Firefox on the iPad and have the same problem.  Sad

One other thing...  after attempting to log in and receiving the message about suspicious activity, I noticed that at the bottom of the webpage where there are links, there was one which was called 'Forumotion'.  However, it does not appear on the Windows computer.

I can't make head or tail of it.

I think Forumotion is a free hosting service similar to Proboards but I can't understand why it is blocking you.
Just checked Forumotion does host this board.

I will repeat...There is no problem with this forum!
Any problem Irene has is with her computer or software and has nothing to do with this forum.

I have since learned that the people who host this forum have software installed that supposedly protects us from 'Suspicious Activity' and some folks have become victims of this over-jealous software, although our forum has no in-house problems.
Irene has been 'blocked' by this process, it would appear, and I am doing my best to ensure that the block is removed ASAP

I have received assurances that a report has been sent to onlineguardian and the problem will be resolved soon.

You're welcome Irene, I was unaware of the severity of the problem with forumotion until I was PM'd by sags.
I think the problem was with the number of different IP's you use or have posted from.
I have records of ten different ones
Never mind....glad to have you back yes
