It started during war.  The first time we went into the Anderson shelter, I went first and walked straight into webs with very large spiders in them, and several got onto me.  I have been petrified of them ever since.  No train was involved.

I remember "helping" my father to dig the pit and assemble the Anderson Shelter that was delivered to our house.

About three quarter of it was buried in the ground and only eighteen inches of roof were left above ground level (but well covered with soil from else where).
Inside we had a Paraffin stove and an emergency food supply and a good three inch of ground water which had managed to creep through the badly damaged overlap sheet joints.

We only ever went into it "for real" on one occasion. and that turned out to be an error by the ARP or whoever it was that pulled the cord.

I can not remember it's demolition .
