Our electricity went off this morning at 08.35 and has just come back on again at 15.50.
What an incredibly boring day this has been, I was afraid my freezers would defrost into puddles on the kitchen and garage floors, but it didn't happen thank God !
You don't realise just how much you rely on power until you haven't got it.

I have been told that this is normally due to an inexperienced operator in the power station switching from one generator to another. I would have thought that it was all automatic nowadays but apparently not so.

Nearly everything we do these days involves the use of electricity. Maybe the electricity company thought they'd turn it off for a while so you'd realise just how valued it is and how it is worth paying the price ..just joking. Smile

The thing with the freezer and long power cuts is resisting opening the lid or door. If you do open it and see that the food really isn't thawing, it makes you kick yourself for letting some warm air in. Smile

You have to be careful with freezers of course, don't put one in a cold room it may defrost itself.

We have a fridge freezer in the kitchen, the freezer part is much smaller than the fridge compartment. We have a full size freezer in the garage.  The beauty of this model is that it can operate in temperatures right down to -15 degrees.  It is one of a very few freezers that can do this.
